Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer was selected the WomensLax.com Player of the Week following a six-point performance last Saturday in Duke’s 16-11 victory over ACC opponent Virginia ... Maurer totaled three goals and three assists to collect her fifth hat trick of the season and her sixth multiple assist game ... Two of her markers came during a 6-0 Blue Devil scoring run that propelled the home squad past the visiting Cavaliers in the final 10 minutes ... She also corralled a career-high five draw controls.
Trio Tabbed Midseason All-America
Senior defender Taylor Virden, junior attacker Kerrin Maurer and sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea were named to Inside Lacrosse’s midseason All-America lists March 25 ... Virden appeared on the midseason first team, Maurer on the second team and Duryea on the third team ... The trio of Blue Devils was also selected to the 2014 Tewaaraton Award women’s watch list presented by Panama Jack last month.
Fifteen different Blue Devils have scored a goal and 13 players have notched at least one assist this season ... Twelve Blue Devils have recorded multiple-goal games, led by junior Kerrin Maurer, who owns five hat tricks ... In a 25-4 season-opening victory over Elon Feb. 7, 14 different Duke players found the back of the net with Maurer tallying a career-high six markers.

Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer is once again one of the Blue Devils’ most dependable playmakers up front ... She leads the team this spring in points (50), goals (31) and assists (19) and ranks second in draw controls (27) ... The Setauket, N.Y., native ranks second in the ACC and ninth nationally in points per game with a 5.00 average ... Duke is 5-1 this spring when winning the draw controls category ... Senior defender Taylor Virden has been scrappy on the wings, leading the team with 38 draw controls ... She ranked sixth in the ACC in draws entering the week ... Virden won a career-high six draws last season against Vanderbilt (March 2, 2013) and matched that total with six against Virginia last weekend ... The Ellicott City, Md., native ranks fifth on Duke’s all-time list for career draw controls with 160 over her four seasons.

Returning IWLCA All-Americans Taylor Virden and Kelsey Duryea continue to anchor the defense in 2014 ... Duryea ranks second in the conference in ground balls per game (2.60) while Virden is seventh (1.90) ... Duryea is also second among ACC goalkeepers with an average of 8.10 saves per game ... Virden ranks fifth in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.40).
Devilish on Defense
Duke’s defensive unit has held opponents without a goal for 15 minutes or more nine times this season ... The longest scoreless streak of the year came in a 14-6 win over ACC opponent Virgnia Tech March 9.
