Future Blue Devils Lead Squads into Quarterfinals

DURHAM, N.C.—A quartet of future Duke Blue Devils will begin their quest to lead their club soccer teams to the US Soccer Development Academy Finals Week in Carson, Calif. Jeremy Ebobisse, Carter Manley, Joe Ohaus and Brian White each will be involved in USSDA quarterfinal games July 7.

The winners advance to Finals Week in Carson in mid-July to crown the 2013-14 Academy Playoff champions. Ebobisse and Manley headline the Bethesda-Olney squad, while White and Ohaus lead the Player Development Academy team. Bethesda-Olney plays Chivas USA at 5 p.m., while PDA hosts Shattuck St. Mary’s at 7 p.m.

Ebobisse highlighted the early playoffs with nine goals in three games as Bethesda-Olney went 3-0 en route the quarterfinal round. The nine goals brought his season total to 38. Manley anchored the defense, playing the full 90 minutes in all three games. Bethesda-Olney allowed five goals in the three games and had one shutout.

White tallied six goals for PDA in the opening round of the playoffs. He joined Ebobisse and future Blue Devil Cameron Moseley on Top Drawer Soccer’s Best XI after the round-robin action. Ohaus anchored the defense in goal, playing all 90 minutes in the opening round of play.
