DURHAM, N.C. – Head men’s cross country coach Norm Ogilvie announced the 2014 men’s cross country schedule today. The season will feature two contests from last year’s schedule as well as three new meets in North Carolina and Virginia.

Duke travels to Charlottesville, Va., three times throughout the course of the season, opening the 2014 campaign Friday, Aug. 29, with the Virginia Duals. The Blue Devils return to Charlottesville one month later to participate in the Panorama Farms Invitational Friday, Sept. 26, where Duke placed fourth as a team last season. The ACC Championships, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31, marks Duke’s final appearance in Charlottesville for the season.

In addition to Charlottesville, the men’s cross country team also makes trips to Harrisonburg, Va., Saturday, Sept. 13, for the JMU Invite, Charlotte, N.C., Saturday, Oct. 11, for the Royals Challenge, Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday, Oct. 18, for the NCAA Pre-Nationals competition and Cary, N.C., Saturday, Nov. 8, for a meet hosted by N.C. State. Duke earned a first-place finish at last season’s Royals Challenge, taking the first three places and positioning seven runners in the top 10 en route to an overall team score of 18 points.

Post-season competition begins Friday, Nov. 14, for Duke, with the NCAA Southeast Regional meet to be held in Louisville, Ky., followed by the NCAA National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday, Nov. 22.

Last season, the Blue Devils saw the squad finish with an overall record of 97-31, including a 19-11 mark against conference opposition. Duke remained undefeated against numerous ACC opponents throughout the season, including Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida State, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Maryland. At the 2013 conference meet in Kernerville, N.C, Duke placed sixth.

The Duke men’s cross country team reconvenes less than a month from today at pre-season camp, which opens Aug. 15.
