DURHAM, N.C.—Fresh off of a commanding 6-1 victory at No. 25 Old Dominion Saturday night, the Duke men’s soccer team makes its debut at Koskinen Stadium in an exhibition against Radford Tuesday evening. The Blue Devils and Highlanders kick off at 7 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
Duke encourages all new freshmen and their parents to attend the game and cheer on the Blue Devils as they continue their preparation for the 2014 season. Fans can check out the first installment of “The Full 90 – An Inside Look at Duke Men’s Soccer” to see how the Blue Devils prepared for their first exhibition of the year.
The Blue Devils, led by Matt Slotnick’s two goals, outscored the Monarchs 5-0 in the second half to come away with the win. Old Dominion got on the board first despite Duke maintaining much of the possession in the early going.
Sophomore Brody Huitema evened the score in the 37th minute to send Duke into halftime tied 1-1. Slotnick started the scoring run in the 57th minute and Duke added four more goals in the next 14 minutes.
Duke finishes out exhibition action Aug. 22 against College of Charleston at 7 p.m.
The season officially kicks off Aug. 29 in the John Rennie Nike Invitational against Loyola Marymount at 7:30 p.m.
