DURHAM, N.C. – As the Duke Softball program continues their preparation for their inaugural season in 2018, we give you an inside look at the student-athletes that have cemented their legacy as part of the team's foundation moving forward.

For this weekly series, Blue Devil Network's own Rebecca Fiorentino will discuss the qualities and characteristics of each player with head coach Marissa Young, who, having served as an assistant coach at North Carolina, will be entering her first season as a head coach in the ACC.

In this week's episode, we highlight Mechanicsville, Va. native, Peyton St. George.

At Atlee High School, St. George was a three-time all-state selection, three-time all-metro, all-region and all-conference choice. She earned Metro Pitcher of the Year honors in 2016 and was ranked by Flo Softball as a Top 100 prospect. Additionally, she helped Atlee to consecutive VHSL 5A state championships in 2015 and 2016. She also played for the Dixie Chicks and Vienna Stars Premier travel organizations.

Young on St. George: “Peyton will forever be remembered as Duke Softball's first commitment in program history. She took a leap of faith and had courage, belief and commitment to being a part of the building process of Duke Softball. We look to Peyton to being a mainstay in the circle for the Blue Devils.”
