DURHAM, N.C. – The NCAA has granted Duke women’s basketball guard Mikayla Boykin a medical hardship waiver for the 2017-18 campaign and will have four years of eligibility remaining with the Blue Devils beginning with the 2018-19 season.

Boykin started the first eight contests last year and averaged 4.6 points, 3.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game. The 5-9 guard from Clinton, N.C., opened her collegiate career on the road at Grand Canyon with a season-high 12 points.

The 2017 ACC Newcomer Watch List selection injured her left knee on Dec. 10 as the Blue Devils downed Winthrop, 101-30.

Boykin was the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of North Carolina as a senior at Clinton H.S., while averaging 37.4 points, 13.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists, 5.6 steals.

She continues with her rehab and is expected to play in 2018-19.

Duke will host its annual Blue/White scrimmage Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium and then will welcome Alaska Anchorage for its final exhibition game Sunday, Nov. 4. The season opener will feature the Blue Devils on the road at Northwestern Sunday, Nov. 11.
