DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Carter Dillon earned his first accolade of the fall season, garnering ACC Freshman of the Week recognition for his performance over the weekend, which helped the Blue Devils men’s squad earn a first-place team victory at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday morning in Cary, N.C.
In the first 8K of his collegiate career, Dillon posted a solid outing for the Blue Devils, notching a top-10 overall finish with a time of 25:45.9 as the fifth Duke runner to cross. His 10th-place finish rounded out the scoring for the Blue Devils and helped Duke clinch the top team spot with 26 team points, finishing 67 points ahead of second-place Morehouse, who tallied 93 total points.
A native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Dillon helped lead Mountain Vista High School to the 2017 Colorado Cross Country Championship with a sixth-place team individual finish at the Colorado 5A Cross Country Meet.
The Duke men’s cross country team returns to action this weekend as it splits the squad between the ECU Pirates Invite on Friday evening and Pre Nationals Saturday morning.
