Bobby Sorrell is in his 24rd year with the Duke Athletics Department and is in his 13th year with the women’s basketball program.  After spending eight years as an administrative assistant under Gail Goestenkors’ staff, Sorrell was moved to the assistant to the head coach and external relations under Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie.
      
Sorrell is responsible for many of the day-to-day happenings of the Duke women’s basketball office, including the coordination of coach Joanne P. McCallie’s speaking and community schedule, campus recruiting, coaches’ travel, recruiting travel and also assists with camps and coordinates game day management.
    
Sorrell has traveled to four NCAA Final Four appearances for the Blue Devils in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2006, while also being a part of five ACC Championship squads from 2000-2004, 2010 and 2011.
    
Prior to working with women’s basketball, Sorrell, a native of Durham, worked in the Duke ticket office as an assistant manager for 11 seasons.  
     

He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham from 2002-10. He is the staff advisor for the Blue Devils vs. Cancer student group. 

Sorrell and his wife of 18 years, Tammy, reside in Rougemont, N.C., with their three children, Eliza (16), Sam (13) and Grace (10).

Growing up, my favorite cartoon was… The Flintstones.

What three words best describe you? ... Friendly, loyal and caring.

My favorite part of a game day is … Being back in the office after a big win!

My secret food craving is … Peanut butter and molasses.

If you could be on the cover of any magazine, which one would it be? ... Time.

What is one thing most people don’t know about yourself? ... I love politics and presidential history.

My favorite thing about the Duke campus is … The Chapel. 

What is the best place you have ever traveled to and one location where you would like to visit? ... The best place is Hawaii and I would like to visit Bora Bora in the South Pacific.

My advice to youngsters is? ... Have no regrets. Seize the day!

If I could star in a reality television show, it would be … Big Brother.

My favorite kind of ice cream is … Rum Raisin.

My favorite way to relax and get away from everything is … Reading. It has become a true escape for me.

The person who has had the biggest influence on my life is … My wife, Tammy. She makes me a better person.

My favorite type of movie to watch is … Science Fiction.
