Sobb was also responsible for Duke Athletics’ corporate partners program for nearly 20 years until IMG College assumed the rights in July 2009. After serving as Associate AD, External Affairs from 2009 through July 2013, Sobb moved into his current role.
Sobb serves as the department liaison with IMG College, Duke’s multi-media rights holder, and IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions, the sales side of Duke Athletics ticket area. His role includes driving revenue, budget relief for the entire department of athletics, looking for new sources of revenue for Duke Athletics, and serving as the department contact with various corporate entities and community groups in the area. He heads corporate sales for suites, loge and club seats in Wallace Wade Stadium and other venues within the expanding athletics complex over the next few years.
Sobb is on the board of the Durham Chamber of Commerce’s Durham 2.0 committee, is the athletics representative on the Corporate Relations and Calendar Committees for Duke University, and is a founding member of the South Durham Little League Foundation. He has also served as past chairman of the ACC Marketing Director’s Committee and was a founding board member of the Emily Krzyzewski Family Life Center.
He coordinated the purchase, installation and implementation of the video board in Wallace Wade Stadium as well as new scoreboards and/or signage in Cameron Indoor, Koskinen and Ambler Stadiums and at Williams Field. Sobb also founded Duke’s Read with the Blue Devils program in spring 1991 and oversees the department’s dealer car program.
A 1987 graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the Kelley School of Business, Sobb worked for three years in sports information at his alma mater as a student assistant before serving an internship at the University of North Carolina.
