Nina King joined the Duke athletics staff in September of 2008 and serves as the department's Associate Director of Athletics for Administration and Chief of Staff. In this capacity, King has oversight responsibilities for Health, Wellness, Physical Education, and Campus Recreation (HWPECR) and the development and execution of all department contracts while serving as the liaison to the University Legal Counsel Office. In addition, she has sport oversight for men’s and women’s cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
King is a 2000 graduate of Notre Dame, where she earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting. She served as the head manager for Notre Dame's women's swimming and diving program as a senior. After graduation, King served internships in the Notre Dame Athletics Department, NCAA and Nike, Inc.
A native of Tampa, Fla., King went on to earn a juris doctor degree and sports law certificate from Tulane Law School in 2005. King returned to her alma mater and served as the Director of Rules Education from 2005-08. She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators, National Association for Athletics Compliance, Black Coaches and Administrators, Sports Lawyers Association, University of Notre Dame National Monogram Club and Florida Bar Association.
King and her husband, Rick, reside in Durham and are the parents of Connor Stephan, who was born February 7, 2011.
