BETHEL, Ohio -- The New Trier girls Varsity 8 crew made history with a third-place finish at the 16th annual United States Rowing Youth National Championship Regatta, June 11-13 at Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio.

Behind Trevians Sarah Specht, Katie Wilcox, Hannah Wilson, Emmi Benton, Maddie Hilbrant, Mell Eckert, Lauren Lashmet, Alex Swift and Megan Marchuk, New Trier became the first public high school crew to step on the medal stand in that event at the national championships. Nearly all of the top crews are products of club rowing programs or private schools.
