FOREST CITY, N.C. - Duke right-hander Ben Grisz fired a complete game two-hit shutout to lead the Thomasville HiToms to a 1-0 win over the Forest City Owls in a Coastal Plain League showdown on Wednesday, June 23.

Grisz, a 6-1, 220-pound sophomore, struck out 10 batters and walked two while allowing just two singles. He struck out the side in the eighth inning and retired the last 10 batters he faced.

Grisz, who led Duke with 25 relief appearances and a 4.40 ERA as a sophomore, has emerged as the ace of the HiToms staff. In five appearances - including three starts - he is 3-1 with a 1.69 ERA and has struck out 27 batters in 26.2 innings of work. He has surrendered just six walks while holding the opposition to a .196 batting average.
