DES MOINES, Iowa - Two Duke student-athletes competed at the USA Track & Field Championships on Friday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Freshman Andrea Hopkins placed eighth in the javelin throw with a top throw of 148'08". Hopkins had six throws and finished fourth among collegiate participants in the junior division.
Junior Ryan McDermott came in 16th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase preliminary round in the men's senior division. McDermott had a time of 8:58.78 and was the third highest finisher among college athletes.
