DURHAM, N.C. --- Coming off the win at the Triple Dual, the Duke University rowing team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Friday to close out the spring season at the largest collegiate regatta, the 74th annual Dad Vail Regatta.
The Blue Devils will enter five boats into the two-day races: the varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four, varsity pair and the novie eight. The competition will take place on Philadelphia's Schuylkill River with opening heats on Friday before Saturday's semi-finals and finals.
Duke's top boat will feature a lineup of coxswain Caroline Kiritsy, Kathy Smithwick, Katie Burke, Emily Theys, Rory Erickson-Kulas, Tara Dalton, Laura Sciarrino, Grace Cassidy and Claire Vannelli with Patricia Kolman and Emily Hyland powering the varsity pair.
The crew of coxswain Emilie Marchetti, Brielle Batesko, Tori Arendt, Sophia Blair, Lauren Lashmet, Laura Guth, Julie Rohde, Victoria Tsamis and Sydney Johnson will make up the second varsity eight boat while the varsity four will include coxswain Ashleigh Anne McKinney, Allison Beattie, Elizabeth Howell, Nancy McKinstry and Lissa Glynn.
"We're looking to wrap up the season with strong team performances," said head coach Robyn Horner. "What we accomplish at the Dad Vail will propel us into summer training and the fall season."
