DURHAM, N.C. – After two and a half weeks of construction on the Duke women’s soccer locker room, the renovation project is ahead of schedule as of July 9. The brand new wooden lockers have been installed as well as painting and new track lighting is in.
The finishing touches of carpet, stereo system, couch, a phone charging station, new ceiling panels and new display boards will be installed in the next two weeks prior to the student-athletes returning to campus.
The Blue Devils are coming off advancing to the 2011 NCAA College Cup, while posting a school-record 22 victories. Duke registered just the second Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season title with an 8-1-1 record and the NCAA College Cup appearance was the first since 1992. As a team, the Blue Devils posted a school-record 16 shutouts.
Duke returns all 11 starters in 2012, while welcoming another standout recruiting class to the mix. Coming off scoring 55 goals last year, the Blue Devils return 91.0 percent of their scoring this season.
