Janis Hampton is an Assistant Professor in the Practice of Health, Wellness and Physical Education.
She teaches courses including the First Year Seminar: Hot Topics in Health, Fitness for Women, and Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Tennis. Hampton has developed a highly effective multi-media program that enhances a student’s learning experience through the use of photography and video. She is actively involved in developing awareness of women’s health and fitness through presentations to various student groups like the Baldwin Scholars and the Pan Hellenic Council. Hampton has served on a number of new professional employee search committees for the department and is an active member of the Risk Management Committee. She previously served the department as the Coordinator of Individual Intramurals, and for the past three years, has been Director of Undergraduate Studies. She has also served as one of the advisors for the Athlete Ally group.
Prior to teaching at Duke University, Hampton was the Fitness Coordinator at a private health club upon her completion of an M.S. in Exercise Physiology at UNC Greensboro.
