Head coach Rodney Fisher returns for his 5th season after guiding the Blue Hose to a 14-15 record and an 8-10 record in the Big South Conference, marking the most wins since 2005-06 and the most Big South wins ever in a single season.

Duke holds a record of 22-5 all-time against Big South Conference teams -- Campbell (3-5), Charleston So. (2-0), Gardner-Webb (1-0), Liberty (3-0), UNC Asheville (9-0), Radford (3-0) and Winthrop (1-0).

The Blue Devils have not lost against teams from the Big South Conference  since February 24, 1977 when the Blue Devils fell to Campbell, 61-50.   Joanne P. McCallie owns a 1-0 record all-time against Big South Conference members.

A Look at Iona...
The Gaels enter Sunday's matchup with an overall record of 2-0 after topping Navy, 74-64 Nov. 9 and Long Beach St., 60-58 on Nov. 11. Iona faced  North Carolina A&T on Friday in Greensboro, N.C.

Joanne P. McCallie owns a 2-2 record all-time against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference members.

Looking Back at the Exhibition Games...
In two exhibition games, the Blue Devils averaged 128.0 points, hit 61.0 percent of their field goals and 58.6 percent from downtown.  Tricia Liston averaged a team-best 24.5 points to go along with 10.5 boards, while Haley Peters averaged 17.5 points and 19.5 rebounds.  A total of seven Duke student-athletes averaged double-figure scoring in the two contests -- Chelsea Gray (22.0), Alexis Jones (19.0), Allison Vernerey (16.5), Sierra Moore (14.5) and Ka'lia Johnson (12.5).

Returning Offense...
As a team, Duke returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team that posted a 27-6 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.  The Blue Devils return 88.7 percent of their scoring from a year ago, including All-America selections sophomore Elizabeth Williams and junior Chelsea Gray.

Other returning starters include Tricia Liston and Haley Peters, while Allison Vernerey, Richa Jackson,  Amber Henson, Ka'lia Johnson and Jenna Frush lettered in 2011-12.  Wells, who is out of Colton, Calif., returns for the Blue Devils, after missing the second semester last year.

The Injury Bug...
Duke concluded the 2011-12 campaign with injury issues and the Blue Devils will start the 2012-13 season with the same problems.

In the season opener, Duke will be without the services of redshirt freshman Amber Henson (knee), junior Chloe Wells (leg) and junior Richa Jackson (knee).

After missing both exhibition games, Elizabeth Williams is expected to play in the opener, but will have limited minutes.

Freshman Katie Heckman tore the ACL in her left knee during preseason practice and had surgery on Nov. 8.  She will miss the entire 2012-13 campaign.

With Henson, Jackson and Wells out, the Blue Devils are down to nine scholarship players.

Freshman Starters...
Blue Devil freshman Alexis Jones has a chance to become just the third player at Duke under head coach Joanne P. McCallie to start their first collegiate game.  Jones, who is out of Midland, Texas, could start at shooting guard for the Blue Devils.

In two exhibition games, Jones averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists.  She hit 58.3 percent of her field goals and 57.1 percent

Others to do this were Elizabeth Williams (2011)and Chloe Wells (2010).  Overall, a total of 23 players at Duke have started their first collegiate game.

In Coach P's 21 years as a head coach, a total of 13 freshmen have started the first game.

Jones, who is a product of Midland, Texas, was a McDonald's and WBCA All-America selection a year ago after averaging 22.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 4.4 steals.

Home Openers...
Coach P has posted a 5-0 mark in home openers since taking over the head coaching position at Duke in 2007-08.  Overall, the Blue Devils have won 13 straight home openers.  Duke has won 33 out of the last 34 home openers.  In school history, Duke is 33-4 in home openers.

The Blue Devils own an overall mark of 29-8 in season openers over the history of the program, including winners of eight in a row.

Home Sweet Home...
Since Joanne P. McCallie took over as head coach at Duke in 2007-08, she has guided the Blue Devils to a 70-5 overall record in Cameron Indoor Stadium.  During that stretch, the Blue Devils posted a 14-0 mark in 2008-09 and 17-0 ledger in 2010-11, which was only the second and third undefeated home seasons in school history.

Duke's loss to Connecticut last year snapped a school-record 34-game winning streak in Cameron.  It was only the second loss at home over the last 61 games.  Duke has won 70 out of the last 75 contests, 84 out of the last 89 and 165 out of the last 176 games since 2000-01.

 The other top win streaks at home have been -- 34 (2010-12), 24 (2005-06 through 2007-08; 2007-08 through 2009-10; 21 (2001-02 through 2002-03), 20 (2003-04 through 2004-05) and 16 (1998-99 through 1999-2000).

Dishing the Rock...
Coming off notching a school-record 201 assists as a sophomore in 2011-12, junior Chelsea Gray looks to continue to be one of the top point guards in the nation.  Over her two years, Gray has dished 287 assists for an average of 4.3 per game.

Gray has posted four double-digit assist games over her career, including a school-record 13 against Pittsburgh as a sophomore.

Preseason Honors...
Junior Chelsea Gray and sophomore Elizabeth Williams have been receiving numerous preseason honors as the season gets under way.

Both Gray and Williams have been named to the national player of the year candidate lists for Naismith, John R. Wooden and Wade Watch.  Both have also been selected preseason All-America selections as well in many publications.
