Volunteer Assistant Coach
Alma Mater: North Carolina '06


Ashley Staples joined the Duke track and field staff as a volunteer assistant coach in September, 2012.  She specializes in the sprints and hurdle events. 

Staples owns a USATF Level I coaching certification.  Prior to Duke, she served three years as a coach with the Hurdle First Track Club and two years at her alma mater, Broughton High School. 

A 2001 Broughton graduate, Staples garnered individual state championships in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles during her senior season.  The Raleigh, N.C., native also holds the facility record in the 300 meter hurdles at UNC Charlotte. 

Staples went on to compete at the University of North Carolina, finishing in the top eight at the 2004 ACC Championships in the 400 meter hurdles. A 2006 graduate, Staples obtained her b. s. in Clinical Laboratory Science.
