T.D. Luten joined the Blue Devil staff in January of 2013, and currently serves as the Director of Golf Operations for the men’s golf team.
Luten, a native of Raleigh, N.C., joins the Duke Golf program after serving for seven years as Executive Director of the First Tee of the Triangle. While working with the First Tee, Luten oversaw a program that has worked with over 4,000 young people in the Triangle area to teach values, build character and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. For his good work in the Triangle area, Luten was elected to the First Tee’s National Advisory Committee in 2007 and 2008.
A 1999 graduate with a degree in U.S. History, Luten received a four year scholarship to play golf for Hampton University, garnering All-American honors from the National Minority Golf Coaches Association. In 2008, Luten earned a Certificate of Non-profit Management from Duke University.
In addition to working with the First Tee, Luten has played an important role in the community working with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Mentoring Program, Communities in Schools, Oberlin Road YWCA, Energize Youth Program of Raleigh Parks and Recreation and the Wake Forest & Raleigh Boys & Girls Clubs.
