The fifth-ranked Duke women’s basketball team (26-2, 16-1) will close the regular season on Sunday, March 3 as the Blue Devils will host 15th-ranked North Carolina (26-4, 14-3) at 4:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Sunday’s game will be aired live on ESPN2 with Brenda VanLengen (PXP) and Carolyn Peck (Color) calling the action. It will also be aired live on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network on WDNC-AM 620 with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) on the air. The game will mark senior day for Duke’s only senior on the roster -- Allison Vernerey. There will be a pregame ceremony at approximately 3:45 PM to honor Vernerey. Following the UNC contest, Duke will kick off the ACC Tournament as the No. 1 seed on Friday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m., against the winner of the No. 8/No. 9 seed game at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes... • Duke’s 17-game winning streak in Cameron Indoor Stadium ranks sixth-best in the NCAA as far as current streaks. • The Blue Devils have won an ACC-record 38 straight games in Cameron Indoor Stadium against ACC opponents. Duke has not lost an ACC contest at home since Maryland posted a 76-69 win on Feb. 17, 2008. Coach P is 40-2 at home against ACC opponents in her six years at Duke. • Elizabeth Williams has notched double-figure scoring against 15 consecutive ACC opponents. • Freshman Alexis Jones has scored double-digits in back-to-back games for the first time in her career. In those two games, she has averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds. • Elizabeth Williams has blocked at least one shot in every collegiate game she has played - 61 straight, which is a new Duke record. It broke the previous record of 55 held by Alison Bales in 2003-05. The ACC record is 64 by LaToya Pringle of UNC with 64. Dating back to high school, Williams has blocked a shot in 79 straight games as she closed her H.S. career with blocks in 19 consecutive contests. • Duke and UNC rank No. 1 in the ACC in blocked shots and steals. • Elizabeth Williams has drained 15 out of her last 22 field goal attempts the last two games (61.2%). • With a win against UNC, Duke will set an ACC record for most league wins in a season (17). • Over the last two games, Haley Peters has averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks, while hitting 54.2 percent of her field goals. Peters has averaged 9.6 rebounds the last five games. She owns a team-best nine games with 10 or more rebounds. • Richa Jackson has averaged 7.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals over the last four games. • Elizabeth Williams owns five double-doubles this season and all five have come against ACC opponents. • Duke has registered 26 victories this season marking the 15th straight year with 25 or more wins. • The Blue Devils close the regular season playing four of the top five ACC teams, including two games on the road. Duke played back-to-back ranked opponents (FSU/Maryland) for the first time this season. • The Blue Devils own the top two three-point field goal percentage leaders in the ACC -- Chloe Wells (52.0) and Tricia Liston (48.4). In ACC games only, they also rank No. 1 - Wells (48.8) and Liston (46.8). • Elizabeth Williams needs six more blocks to reach 200 for her short career. • Alexis Jones had missed 13 straight three-pointers dating back the last six games, prior to hitting 4-of-6 from downtown the last two contests. • Tricia Liston snapped a 10-game streak with at least one three-pointer at Miami on Feb. 28. • Duke has won 22 straight games when scoring 80 or more points, dating back to the 2008-09 campaign. • As a team, Duke is first in three-point field goal percentage (42.5) and 10th in steals (12.3) nationally. • Duke boasts three players ranking in the top 11 nationally -- Elizabeth Williams in blocks (11th, 2.8), Chelsea Gray in steals (7th, 3.6) and Tricia Liston in three-point field goal percentage (2nd, 48.4).
