Setting the Scene...
    The fifth-ranked Duke women’s basketball team (26-2, 16-1) will close the regular season on Sunday, March 3 as the Blue Devils will host 15th-ranked North Carolina (26-4, 14-3) at 4:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
    Sunday’s game will be aired live on ESPN2 with Brenda VanLengen (PXP) and Carolyn Peck (Color) calling the action.  It will also be aired live on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network on WDNC-AM 620 with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) on the air. 
    The game will mark senior day for Duke’s only senior on the roster -- Allison Vernerey.  There will be a pregame ceremony at approximately 3:45 PM to honor Vernerey.  
    Following the UNC contest, Duke will kick off the ACC Tournament as the No. 1 seed on Friday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m., against the winner of the No. 8/No. 9 seed game at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
   
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
    •    Duke’s 17-game winning streak in Cameron Indoor Stadium ranks sixth-best in the NCAA as far as current streaks.
    •    The Blue Devils have won an ACC-record 38 straight games in Cameron Indoor Stadium against ACC opponents.  Duke has not lost an ACC contest at home since Maryland posted a 76-69 win on Feb. 17, 2008.  Coach P is 40-2 at home against ACC opponents in her six years at Duke.
    •    Elizabeth Williams has notched double-figure scoring against 15 consecutive ACC opponents.
    •    Freshman Alexis Jones has scored double-digits in back-to-back games for the first time in her career.  In those two games, she has averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds.
    •    Elizabeth Williams has blocked at least one shot in every collegiate game she has played - 61 straight, which is a new Duke record.  It broke the previous record of 55 held by Alison Bales in 2003-05.  The ACC record is 64 by LaToya Pringle of UNC with 64. Dating back to high school, Williams has blocked a shot in 79 straight games as she closed her H.S. career with blocks in 19 consecutive contests.
    •    Duke and UNC rank No. 1 in the ACC in blocked shots and steals.
    •    Elizabeth Williams has drained 15 out of her last 22 field goal attempts the last two games (61.2%).       
    •    With a win against UNC, Duke will set an ACC record for most league wins in a season (17).
    •    Over the last two games, Haley Peters has averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks, while hitting 54.2 percent of her field goals.  Peters has averaged 9.6 rebounds the last five games.  She owns a team-best nine games with 10 or more rebounds.
    •    Richa Jackson has averaged 7.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals over the last four games. 
    •    Elizabeth Williams owns five double-doubles this season and all five have come against ACC opponents.
    •    Duke has registered 26 victories this season marking the 15th straight year with 25 or more wins.
    •    The Blue Devils close the regular season playing four of the top five ACC teams, including two games on the road.  Duke played back-to-back ranked opponents (FSU/Maryland) for the first time this season.
    •    The Blue Devils own the top two three-point field goal percentage leaders in the ACC -- Chloe Wells (52.0) and Tricia Liston (48.4).  In ACC games only, they also rank No. 1 - Wells (48.8) and Liston (46.8).
    •    Elizabeth Williams needs six more blocks to reach 200 for her short career.
    •    Alexis Jones had missed 13 straight three-pointers dating back the last six games, prior to hitting 4-of-6 from downtown the last two contests.       
    •    Tricia Liston snapped a 10-game streak with at least one three-pointer at Miami on Feb. 28.
    •    Duke has won 22 straight games when scoring 80 or more points, dating back to the 2008-09 campaign.
    •    As a team, Duke is first in three-point field goal percentage (42.5) and 10th in steals (12.3) nationally.
    • Duke boasts three players ranking in the top 11 nationally -- Elizabeth Williams in blocks (11th, 2.8), Chelsea Gray in steals (7th, 3.6) and Tricia Liston in three-point field goal percentage (2nd, 48.4).       

 

    •    Duke has notched at least 10 league wins for the 16th straight year.
    •    In ACC games only, the Blue Devils lead the league with a 50.8 scoring defense, 33.2 field goal percentage defense, three-point percentage (39.6), three-point field goal percentage defense (24.6), blocked shots (T1st, 4.9), turnover margin (+3.9) and tied for first in assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
    •     Duke is averaging 75.4 points this season, which is the most for a Blue Devil squad since 2005-06 with an 86.0 ledger.  The most for a Coach P squad in her previous five years was 75.2 in 2008-09.
    •    After holding Virginia Tech to 33 points on Feb. 14, head coach Joanne P. McCallie has held 23 different opponents to under 40 points since arriving at Duke in 2007-08.
     •    The Blue Devils registered a 3.3 grade-point average in the fall semester, which included five student-athletes with above a 3.5 GPA.  A total of 11 Blue Devils had a 3.0 or better.
    •    Duke has hit 50.0 percent or better from the field in seven different games.
    •    The Blue Devils own four different student-athletes hitting over 40.0 percent or better from downtown -- Chelsea Gray (40.7), Tricia Liston (48.4), Haley Peters (46.7) and Chloe Wells (52.0).

Senior Day...
    Duke will honor the only senior on the roster, Allison Vernerey, on Sunday prior to the UNC contest.  Vernerey, who is from Alsace, France, has appeared in 132 career games, while missing only one over her four years.
    She has tallied 718 points and 489 rebounds, while blocking 103 shots.  Her 103 blocks ranks 10th all-time on Duke’s career charts. Vernerey has led Duke to a 115-18 record.
    The native of France was able to take her team home to her country as the Blue Devils went to France/Italy in August.

Hey, I Know You...
    Blue Devil sophomore Elizabeth Williams and North Carolina senior Tierra Ruffin-Pratt both played for the Boo Williams AAU squad.

Blue Devils Versus North Carolina...
    Over the last three games, Tricia Liston has averaged 17.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals against the Tar Heels.  She has hit 8-of-17 treys in those contests.
    Elizabeth Williams has averaged 13.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 3.0 assists in three career contests against UNC.  She is coming off a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds earlier this season.
    Freshman Alexis Jones totaled nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals earlier this season.
    Junior Haley Peters is coming off notching 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists at UNC.

What Happened in the First Meeting...
    Duke came out on fire from the beginning in Chapel Hill on Feb. 3 and built a 50-19 halftime advantage, before downing 11th-ranked North Carolina, 84-63.
    Duke hit 55.9 percent of its field goals in the first half, including 7-of-9 treys, and finished the game hitting 46.2 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from downtown.  The Blue Devils drained a season-high 13 treys on 21 attempts.
    Chloe Wells led Duke with 18 points, including hitting a career-best 6-of-7 treys, while Tricia Liston came off the bench to notch 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Haley Peters added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Elizabeth Williams notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
    Duke held UNC to 33.3 percent shooting and only 3-of-12 from downtown.  The Blue Devils forced 24 turnovers and scored 26 points off those turnovers.

Looking Back at Last Year...
    In the game last year in Chapel Hill, N.C., junior Haley Peters was hit in the mouth with an elbow in the first half and had to leave the game due to a cut in her mouth.  Peters later returned late in the second half to propel the Blue Devils to a 69-63 victory.
    Peters had to get 17 stitches inside and outside her mouth and showed incredible toughness to return to the game.  She concluded the game with nine points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes.
    The victory for Duke snapped a four-game losing streak for the Blue Devils in Chapel Hill.
   
Gray to Miss Rest of Season with Injury...
    Head coach Joanne P. McCallie announced on Tuesday junior point guard Chelsea Gray will miss the rest of the 2012-13 campaign due to a right knee cap dislocation that requires surgery to repair, following a MRI on Monday, Feb. 18. 
    A native of Manteca, Calif., Gray suffered the injury at the 8:01 mark of the first half on Sunday, Feb. 17 against Wake Forest.  She had started 59 straight games for the Blue Devils, including all 25 contests this season. 
    Gray, an All-America selection as a sophomore, was averaging 13.1 points, 5.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 steals prior to the injury.  She was leading the ACC in assists and steals, while ranking in the top 10 nationally as well.  The 5-11 guard was having one of the best all-around seasons in Duke history and was presented with a souvenir ball prior to Sunday’s game for reaching the 1,000-point plateau against Maryland on Feb. 11.  She became the 10th-quickest player in Blue Devil history to reach 1,000 points in only 90 games.

Since the Gray Injury...
    In the three games since point guard Chelsea Gray was injured, Duke has averaged 17.3 turnovers, 13.3 assists, 7.7 steals, 67.0 points and outrebounding opponents by only 3.7. 
    Freshman Alexis Jones has averaged 11.3 points, 6.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 32.0 minutes a game.  Jones is hitting only 28.9 percent of her field goals during that span, but has hit 40.0 percent from downtown.

Coming off a Loss...
    The Blue Devils will look to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign when Duke fell three straight games in November and December. 
    Duke has not suffered back-to-back losses in January or February since the 1999-2000 season with defeats to 24th-ranked Virginia and Florida State.
    The Blue Devils have gone 193 contests since back-to-back losses, which ranks second nationally to Connecticut (721).   Duke is 30-0 following losses during the streak.  In the ACC, only Duke and North Carolina have gone without back-to-back losses in this season. 

At Home in 2012-13...
    Duke has registered a 13-0 overall record at home this season in Cameron Indoor Stadium.  In those games, the Blue Devils have averaged 78.8 points and held a whopping 14.2 rebounding advantage.
    With a win on Sunday versus UNC, Duke will boast just the fourth undefeated regular season in school history (2006-07, 2008-09, 2010-11).
    Tricia Liston owns a team-high average of 15.5 points in home contests.  Liston has score double-digits in 11-of-13 home games, including three contests with 20 or more points.
    Chloe Wells has hit 61.9 percent of her three-pointers at home (13-of-21) in 10 games.  She has hit 5-of-8 the last two games.

    The fifth Coach P Radio Show will air Monday, March 4 from 6:00-7:00 p.m., at NOSH.  Fans are encouraged to get to NOSH early as it is expected to fill up quickly.

Duke Claims ACC Regular Season Title...
    For the fourth straight year, Duke claimed the ACC regular season title on Sunday with its victory at No. 8 Maryland. 
    Duke tied an ACC record with its 16th league victory and equaled the best start in ACC history.  Only three other teams in league history has reached the 16-win mark -- Duke in 2002-03 & 2001-02 and Virginia in 1994-95. 
    The Blue Devils claimed the outright ACC crown for the second straight year.
    In the history of the ACC, Duke leads the league with 12 regular season titles with Virginia (11), Maryland (5), N.C. State (5), UNC (4), Florida State (2), Miami (1) and Clemson (1) owning the other championships.
    Duke has actually won 12 out of the last 16 ACC regular season titles.
