The Opening Tip • Duke defeated No. 15 seed Albany 73-61 in the NCAA second round to advance to the third-round matchup against No. 7 seed Creighton. • Duke received the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region and is playing in its 18th consecutive NCAA Tournament. • Duke is 24-8 when playing as a No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Last Time Out • Seth Curry scored 26 points, and Mason Plumlee added 23 to lead No. 2 seed Duke past No. 15 seed Albany, 73-61, in the Midwest Region second round matchup at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa. • Curry and Plumlee combined to shoot 19-of-25 (.760) from the field with Curry sinking 10-of-14 shots and Plumlee finishing 9-of-11. Plumlee’s .818 shooting percentage from the floor was the third-highest by a Duke player in NCAA history. • Point guard Quinn Cook dished out 11 assists against the Great Danes for his third double-digit assist game of the season. Cook committed just one turnover in 36 minutes on the floor, good for his third-highest assist-to-turnover ratio on the season. • Duke logged nine steals with four players recording multiple steals.
Numbers Game • With an all-time record of 1,999-839, Duke is just one win shy of becoming the fourth program in NCAA history to reach 2,000 wins. • The Blue Devils are 7-1 on neutral courts this season. Duke has defeated No. 3 Kentucky, No. 2 Louisville, Minnesota, VCU and Davidson on neutral courts this season. Duke’s lone neutral site loss this season came against Maryland in the ACC Tournament. • Duke was ranked No. 6 in the final AP Poll of the 2012-13 season. The senior trio of Seth Curry, Ryan Kelly and Mason Plumlee spent their entire careers ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll (77 weeks). • In the two previous seasons that Duke has played NCAA Tournament games in Philadelphia, Pa., the Blue Devils won national championships. Curry has multiple treys in 13 of his last 15 games.
