SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Saber Sean Cadley sits in 16th place and teammates Emily D'Agostino and Sarah Collins rank 19th and 20th in the epee bracket after the first day of the NCAA Women’s Fencing Championship at Freeman Coliseum Saturday.

In the same NCAA saber bracket that former Duke fencer Becca Ward won in 2009, 2011 and 2012, Cadley recorded a 6-9 record on her first day of competition. In her first trip to the NCAA Championship, Cadley led Duke’s three women’s participants in wins and touch differential.

With six points from Cadley, five each from D’Agostino and Collins and 15 from All-America men's epee Dylan Nollner during the men's competition, Duke climbed from 16th to 11th place in the team standings and sits just four points behind Harvard for a top-10 spot. The Blue Devils have recorded top-10 team finishes in three straight trips to the NCAA Championship.

D’Agostino and Collins turned in matching 5-10 records on day one of the epee competition. D’Agostino, a two-time All-America fencing in her fourth straight NCAA Championship, scored 54 points in her 15 bouts, while Collins scored 49. Collins, a sophomore, is fencing in her second straight NCAA Championship.

Cadley, Collins and D’Agostino will compete in the final two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Fencing Championship on Sunday.
