DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, sat down with senior Marcus Wright  to learn more about the Cheshire, Conn., native. Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke:
Marcus Wright: The first thing would be the relationships that you initiate and cultivate by being a student-athlete. Without me being a student-athlete, there are people I would have never met, otherwise. Being a student-athlete develops skills in you that are transferable to the real world. In order to be a successful student-athlete, one needs to master the art of efficiency. You have to seek help when you need it. The third is that I love to run. What is your favorite competition-related memory?
MW: ACCs last year, 4x400 finishing in third place. I led off and we were able to break the school record. What is your favorite memory away from competition?
MW: My freshman year when the basketball team beat Butler. Name three things that motivate you to perform:
MW: I have a love for run running. There was a period, during my time here, that I left Duke and I wasn’t with the team. During that time away from the team I realized how much I love track and I love to sprint. If someone said something during my day that really upset me, I’ll channel that into practice. If something didn’t go my way or if there was a bad circumstance in my life, track is a way to channel that anger and frustration. Seeing the platform that I have as a student-athlete, and how that has impacted a young person is motivating, as well. Name three foods that you can’t live without:
MW: Curry chicken, beef patties and Jamacian dumplings.. Name three of your favorite restaurants in the Durham area:
MW: Golden Krust, Cracker Barrell and Dame’s Chicken and Waffles. Name three places in the world you’d like to travel:
MW: Guatemala, Jamaica and Ghana.
