DURHAM -- In the second installment of the three-part Inside Training Camp series, the Blue Devil Network had another opportunity to sit down with one senior and one freshman from the 2014 football squad to hear about the different camp experiences each player has had while preparing for the upcoming season opener.

This week, the focus is on a pair of offensive guards, fifth-year senior Laken Tomlinson and true freshman Trip McNeill.  Both offensive linemen take us into the daily routine and camp life of the reigning 2013 ACC Coastal Champions.

A 6-3 native of Chicago, IL, Tomlinson enters his final year with the Blue Devils serving as an anchor and leader for the offensive line, as well as a stellar ambassador for the program off the field. Tomlinson is double-majoring in evolutionary anthropology and psychology and has been active in several community service projects, including a well-digging mission to Ethiopia, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Durham Rescue Mission and speaking engagements at local schools. He was recently named a candidate for the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®

Tomlinson has had an equally significant impact on the field, starting 39 consecutive games for Duke while earning All-ACC first team honors in 2013. He is a preseason All-America selection by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele as well as a watch list selection for the Outland Trophy and Rotary Lombardi Award.

An All-ACC and All-Academic honoree selection in 2013, Tomlinson is one of five active ACC players to have earned the pair of achievements.

McNeill joins the squad as a powerful 6-5, 300-pound offensive lineman. A product from Davie High School in Advance, N.C., McNeill contributed to three state playoff appearances while earning first team all-state and all-conference accolades for two years. McNeill was listed as the No. 28 offensive lineman in the nation by ESPN.com.

You can meet both players at the Meet the Blue Devils event on Saturday, August 16 in the Pascal Field House. For more information about the event, click here.

The Blue Devils open the 2014 campaign in Wallace Wade Stadium August 30th taking on the Elon Phoenix at 6:00 pm.
