RALEIGH, N.C. – The 2017 Heel Pack Individual finished Sunday on a high note for Duke, thanks to freshman Steven DiLisio’s championship-caliber effort over the two-day event.
The tournament was an individual-based event that took place at both the UNC Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill and the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, featuring players from Campbell, Charlotte, Duke, Liberty, Limestone College, NC State, North Carolina, UNC Greensboro and Wake Forest.
Four Blue Devils represented the program on Saturday and Sunday, but it would be DiLisio who would be crowned as the tournament’s best following a one-under par overall performance.
Entering Sunday, DiLisio was tied for fifth place, but after shooting one of only two under par rounds on the day—a 70 (-2)—the Swampscott, Mass. native paced the field and garnered the victory by a one-stroke margin with a final score of 143.
DiLisio’s play on the Par 5’s was both impressive and essential for staying below par, as a four-under effort would lead the field at the event’s conclusion.
Overall, Duke’s quartet shot a 35-over 611 for the tournament, recording 11 birdies between DiLisio and senior Andrew Bieber.
Senior Matt Oshrine concluded his two days of play with a 150 (+6) and T-11 finish.
Sophomore Shrish Dwivedi was unable to improve on his first day score, shooting an 85 (+13) to round out his tournament stroke total to 164 (+20).
