Hunter Richardson joined the Duke Athletics staff in July of 2017 and serves as an Associate Director of Digital Media/Social Media. He spent two years as a member of Duke's sports information staff prior to shifting into his current role in July of 2019.
As an assistant sports information director at Duke, Richardson worked with the women's soccer and softball programs.
Richardson came to Durham from Mississippi State University, where he served in the media relations department as an undergraduate student assistant, graduate assistant and assistant director. During his tenure in Starkville, he was the primary communications manager for the Bulldogs’ men’s tennis (2012-15), volleyball (2014-16) and softball (2017) programs as well as handling interim SID duties for Mississippi State’s baseball squad in 2016 as the Bulldogs captured the SEC regular season championship and hosted both NCAA Regional and Super Regional events at Dudy Noble Field.
Richardson, who held a secondary contact role for Mississippi State’s men’s basketball program from 2014-16, also assisted with publicity efforts for the Bulldog football program at both the 2012 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl and 2013 AutoZone Liberty Bowl and accompanied the MSU baseball squad to the College World Series in 2013.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., Richardson also has communications experience with the Southeastern Conference office and the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies.
Richardson holds a pair degrees from Mississippi State, having earned an undergraduate degree in communications in 2014 and a master’s degree in sport administration in 2016.
