Frederick Walker joined the Duke coaching staff in March of 2018 and serves as a graduate assistant coach working primarily with the quarterbacks.

At the helm of the 2018 offense was three-year starter Daniel Jones, the No. 6 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.  Jones, a two-year captain and two-time team Most Valuable Player with the Blue Devils, capped the season by earning Walk-On’s Independence Bowl Offensive Player of the Game honors after leading Duke to a 56-27 win over Temple thanks to a bowl-record 423 passing yards and six total touchdowns (5 passing and 1 rushing).  He was also tabbed the Most Valuable Player of the 2019 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

During the 2017 season, Walker served as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech University where he coached the wide receivers.  Prior to the one season with the Golden Eagles, he spent two seasons (2015-16) as a graduate assistant coach at Troy University, and helped the Trojans to a 10-3 ledger in 2016 including a 28-23 victory over Ohio University in the Dollar General Bowl.

A native of Canton, Miss., Walker served as a student assistant coach at Mississippi State before graduating in 2014 with a degree in kinesiology.  During his tenure in Starkville, the Bulldogs posted a four-year record of 29-21 with four bowl appearances in 2011 (Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl vs. Wake Forest), 2012 (TaxSlayer.com Bowl vs. Northwestern), 2013 (Autozone Liberty Bowl vs. Rice) and 2014 (Capital One Orange Bowl vs. Georgia Tech).  Walker later earned a graduate degree in criminal justice from Troy in 2016.
