Position: Assistant Sports Performance Coach (Softball, W Cross Country)

Joined the Duke Sports Performance Staff in the Fall of 2016 as an assistant Sports Performance Coach after time as an intern and volunteer coach. Before coming to Duke and working with several of the Olympic Sports teams, Bar has worked in the public and private strength and conditioning field working with elite youth, high school, collegiate athletes, as well as current professional athletes in various sports.

Bar attended Fairfield University for 2 years before transferring to the University of Hartford, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Spanish Language. He also is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, certified to conduct functional movement assessments through FMS, as well as a certified level 1 weightlifting coach through USA Weightlifting.

Bar played soccer as a goalkeeper at the elite youth level, winning the US Club Soccer National Championship in 2006, as well as the collegiate level winning the MAAC Championship with Fairfield University in 2008. He then spent time playing soccer at the professional level in Europe before returning to earn his bachelor’s degree and play soccer for the University of Hartford. Bar also has experience at the semi-professional level in the US playing in the USL-PDL and NASL.
