Jamal White joined the Athletic Facilities and Game Operations staff in March of 2019. He will serve as Coordinator of Athletic Facilities, Game Operations, and Championships. In this role, he will work primarily with Field Hockey and Swimming & Diving.
Prior to arriving to Duke, White was at Longwood University as the Director of Athletic Events, where he oversaw game day operations for all of Longwood’s 14 programs. He came to Longwood following a three-year stint as coordinator of game day operations at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn. before a promotion to Assistant Athletic Director for Game Day Operations and Facilities in June 2016.
During his time in Bridgeport, White oversaw day-to-day operations for home games and special events on and around campus including, but not limited to, setup of film and broadcast equipment, operating the scoreboard and scorebook for basketball, baseball and softball, hire and train 60 student employees, and work with outside groups – Bridgeport City Schools and the City of Bridgeport – for scheduling time on the campus’ athletic facilities.
Prior to working at the University of Bridgeport, White served as assistant to athletic director at York Preparatory School in New York, N.Y. from 2012-2013. In that role, he assisted the athletic director with day-to-day operations which included creating team workouts, overseeing team travel and practice schedules, and serve as the boy’s junior varsity basketball assistant coach and boy’s middle school head coach.
White also served as assistant men’s basketball coach at Manhattanville College while earning his master’s degree from 2010-2012, and functioned as athletics assistant at the University of Bridgeport from 2006-2010.
A native of Bronx, N.Y., White earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Bridgeport in 2010 prior to his masters in sports management from Manhattanville College in 2012.
