DURHAM, N.C. - Thirteenth-ranked Duke posted a 4-1 win over Richmond on Sunday afternoon at Wiliams Field, as the Blue Devils improved to 5-5 on the season and Richmond fell to 1-8.

Junior Marian Dickinson opened up the scoring for Duke, as she netted her second goal of the season at the 12:35 mark to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead.

Just over seven minutes later, the Blue Devils set up for a penalty corner and freshman Susan Ferger found the net on a pass from sophomore Lauren Miller to increase Duke's advantage to 2-0. The goal was Ferger's third for the year.

At the 29:11 mark, sophomore Lauren Amicucci scored her first goal of the season to put Duke up 3-0. Dickinson was credited with an assist on the play.

Milller would score Duke's fourth goal with five minutes remaining in the half, as a penalty corner resulted in a goal and Dickinson and sophomore Brooke Patterson notched assists on the play.

Duke went into the halftime break with an 11-8 shot advantage, while both squads had five corners for the period. Blue Devil keeper senior Caitlin Williams recorded three stops and Spider goalie Becca Weaver secured four stops.

The second half saw each team get off shot attempts, but both goalies had stellar days in goal, as the Blue Devils did not score for the half. Megan Thompson scored a goal for the Spiders at the 67:22 mark to put the final score at 4-1 in Duke's favor.

The Blue Devils out-shot the Spiders, 23-13, for the day, and also held the advantage in penalty corners by a 12-8 margin. Williams had seven stops for Duke, while Thompson was credited with 13 for the contest.

Duke is in action next weekend in Chestnut Hill, Mass., as the Blue Devils take on Boston College on Friday and Boston University on Sunday.
