Can't Make It to Cameron?
Watch it Live On

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke men's basketball fans have their first opportunity to celebrate the 2009-10 Duke Blue Devils with Countdown to Craziness presented by Duke Army ROTC on Friday, Oct. 16. The season-opening event will feature live music, inflatable games, videos, performances by Duke University Improv, and on-court contests as well as the annual Blue-White scrimmage and a dunk contest.

Countdown to Craziness will also kick off the 70th year of basketball in Cameron Indoor Stadium and the 30th season with head coach Mike Krzyzewski manning the sidelines of one of the greatest venues in sports history. Reserved and standing room only seats are now available online at or by calling the Duke Ticket Office at (919) 681-BLUE (check the number).

"Duke Athletics is extremely excited to unveil Countdown to Craziness presented by Duke Army ROTC," Duke basketball director of external relations Debbie Savarino said. "With all the excitement for the 2009-10 season, we felt like it was the perfect time to revamp the traditional Blue & White game and celebrate the start of basketball season in a new and fresh way."

ESPN analyst Jason Williams will also be on site for Countdown to Craziness as part of ESPNU's coverage of the opening weekend of college basketball.

The first Crazies Choice awards will also be presented live at Countdown to Craziness. The award winners will be determined exclusively via fan voting and Duke fans all over the world are encouraged to vote as many times as they would like. This year's awards will celebrate some of Duke's greatest players, games and memories over the past 30 years. The awards include: Best Duke Comeback, Greatest Duke Buzzer-Beater, Most Electric Cameron Chaos and Best Dynamic Duo. Fans may vote for the Crazies Choice Awards up until Oct. 16th. For more information on the Crazies Choice Awards and for fan polling, go to

"The Crazies Choice Awards are like the Oscars or VMA's," stated Duke junior guard Nolan Smith, "only Duke style and more prestigious."

Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. in Krzyzewskiville with live music, games and face painting. The doors to Cameron Indoor Stadium open at 6:30 p.m. with the next hour and a half filled with on-court contests, exciting new videos and performances by DefMo, Duke University Improv and the Dancing Devils. In addition, Duke will unveil the 2009-10 men's basketball team poster and introduce the Duke women's basketball team in this span.

The 2009-10 Duke Blue Devils will take the floor at 8:00 p.m., following a special video introduction and the announcement of two surprise guest coaches. The annual Blue-White scrimmage will tip at 8:15 p.m. Following the 20-minute scrimmage, the Blue Devils will show off their high-flying aerial talents with a dunk contest and Krzyzewski will address the crowd to close out the evening in Cameron.

Activities will continue throughout the evening in K-ville with a postgame concert put on by Duke University Union featuring MTV Video Music Awards Breakthrough Video award winners Matt and Kim.
