Women's Hoops Set to Host Wingate on Thursday

DURHAM, N.C. - The preseason sixth-ranked Duke women's basketball team will host its first of two exhibition contests on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m., against Wingate University. The game will be played in Cameron Indoor Stadium and will be free admission.
Wingate University, which is located in Wingate, N.C., is a member of the Division II South Atlantic Conference. The Bulldogs are coached by Barbara Nelson, who is in her third season as the head coach at Wingate. She has registered a 44-18 overall record in her stint and returns four starters off a squad that collected an 18-10 overall record in 2008-09.
The Bulldogs placed tied for fourth in the conference a year ago and returns starters Kurie Washington (15.4 points), CC Brooks (9.2 points), Sarah Rosser (6.9 points) and Stacie Rhodes (6.4 points).
Following the Wingate game on Thursday, Duke will also host Alaska Anchorage on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2:00 p.m., in a final tune-up before opening the season on Nov. 13 at Houston Baptist. The Blue Devils will play the Huskies of Houston Baptist on Nov. 13 at 8:30 p.m., in Houston, Texas before traveling to College Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3:00 p.m.
Duke will have its home opener on Thursday, Nov. 19 against Georgia Southern. The Blue Devils are also proud to be hosting the 2010 NCAA Tournament first and second rounds in Cameron this season on March 20 and 22. These tickets are included in all season ticket packages!
