DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman diver, Nick McCrory, of the Duke men’s swimming and diving team has been named the ACC Performer of the Week.

The Chapel Hill, N.C. native helped key the Duke men to their second ACC victory of the season with a win over Georgia Tech this past weekend.

McCrory took first place on both the one-meter and three-meter diving boards in commanding fashion. In the three-meter competition, he won by a margin of 106.85 points and at the one-meter height, he posted a comfortable 79.85 point margin of victory.

Some early season accomplishments for McCrory include an undefeated record on both the one and three-meter boards and two school records. The record he broke on the one-meter board was previously held by Clinton Brush, who set the mark 48 years ago in 1961.

McCrory adds this honor to a long list of accomplishments, including fourth place at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials and 20th place at the FINA World Championships in Rome. Both performances were on the ten-meter platform which he will take to for the first time as a collegiate student-athlete later this season.
