Media members were intrigued by the fact that Duke cornerback Chris Rwabukamba was selected in the fourth round of the 2010 Canadian Football League Draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this past spring ... Hamilton will retain the rights to the senior cornerback despite him not playing professionally this year ... A native of Windsor, Ontario, Rwabukamba played by CFL rules in high school, forcing quite an adjustment when he arrived at Duke in 2006 ... He summed up the biggest differences in the two games with "Canadian football plays on a larger field with more passing, but the American game is much faster with better athletes."
GOLD ON DUKE (PART 1)
Here is what veteran broadcaster Adam Gold of 99.9 The Fan had to say about the Duke football program: "Cutcliffe has brought something that I didn't think was possible. I think the guys think on a bigger scale than they ever have. I think they play with a greater sense of awareness. I think David has so much experience and he's so good at what he does, and the energy that he brings is so far advanced than most of the coaches you see in the national polls all the time. And that translates to his players. It's just tremendous what he's done. I love everything about Coach Cutcliffe."
The Blue Devils have agreed to terms with the following schools for future games: Richmond (2011 in Durham), Stanford (2011 in Durham; 2012 in Palo Alto), Tulane (2011 & 2014 in Durham; 2015 in New Orleans), Florida International (2011 in Miami; 2012 in Durham), Memphis (2012 in Durham; 2013 in Memphis), N.C. Central (2012, 2015 & 2018 at Duke), Elon (2013 in Durham), Navy (2013 in Durham), Kansas (2014 in Durham), Northwestern (2015 & 2017 in Durham; 2016 & 2018 in Evanston), Army (2015 & 2017 in West Point; 2016 & 2018 in Durham), Louisville (2016 in Louisville) and Baylor (2017 in Durham; 2018 in Waco).
GOLD ON DUKE (PART 2)
"I was under the mind that at Duke you needed to hire one of two things: the up-and-coming crazy assistant or a guy on the way down that had done everything to lend credibility, as an example, a Lou Holtz-type. Initially with David Cutcliffe - Ole Miss, nice guy, Southern gentleman - and then the press conference. And it's just a press conference and I always caution myself not to buy too much into that. But holy cow, I was completely sold on his ability to get his players motivated, in shape and all of that straight from that day in January. That was the biggest eye-opener I've ever had meeting a coach for the first time and he's even better than he was that day. He is the best choice I could have ever imagined for Duke."
Duke senior center Bryan Morgan impressed several members of the media with his musical talents on Sunday ... Following the interview portion of the afternoon, Morgan entertained a small crowd in the lobby of the Grandover Resort with a solo act on the piano.
Duke student-athletes Bryan Morgan and Chris Rwabukamba participated in a golf clinic at the Grandover Resort driving range on Monday morning. The two players took some swings and received instruction on techniques from the golf pros at the resort.
