PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Phoenix Mercury has signed forward Krystal Thomas to a seven-day contract, the team announced on Saturday.

A rookie out of Duke University, Thomas was drafted in the third round (36th overall) of the 2011 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She was waived by the Storm on July 21 before re-signing to a seven-day contract on July 24. Thomas appeared in five games for Seattle this season.

The 6-5 forward averaged 6.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in four years at Duke. She was selected to the All-ACC Third Team as a senior after leading the league with a 9.0 rebound average during the regular season and a 10.3 rebound average in conference games. Thomas grabbed 300 rebounds during the 2010-11 season, the third-most in Duke single-season history.

Thomas is expected to be available for Tuesday’s game vs. the Seattle Storm. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at US Airways Center. Lower-level tickets starting at just $10 are available by calling 602-252-WNBA or visiting phoenixmercury.com.
