DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke baseball team wrapped up its second week of fall practice with a pair of intrasquad games.
In Thursday's intrasquad game, the White Team scored two runs in each of the first two innings on its way to a 5-2 win over the Blue Team. Sophomore Chris Marconcini paced the White attack, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Aaron Cohn finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Senior Will Piwnica-Worms added two hits, while sophomore Mike Rosenfeld had a double and a run scored and sophomore Angelo LaBruna had an RBI.
Sophomore Drew Van Orden and freshman Dalton Brown pitched two scoreless innings each to start the game for the White Team. Freshman Sarkis Ohanian then struck out two batters in his two innings of work. Junior Marcus Stroman closed out the game by striking out four batters in three shutout frames.
On Sunday, the White Team scored in each of the first three innings and later added a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie en route to a 6-4 win. Sophomore David Perkins led the way, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored. Stroman, Marconcini and junior Ryan Munger all went 2-for-4 in the game.
Freshman Andrew Istler pitched the final three innings for the White Team, limiting the Blue Team to two hits and no runs. Freshman Trent Swart held the Blue Team to one run and two hits in three innings pitched.
D'Alessandro led the Blue Team at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Sophomore Jordan Betts went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI on the afternoon, while Perez, Kremer and freshman Grant McCabe added one hit apiece.
Freshman Remy Janco pitched well, holding the White Team scoreless in his two innings of work. Ruffin added a shutout inning for the Blue Team in the ninth.
