DURHAM, N.C.  - Duke junior Henrique Cunha was named the ACC Player of the Week after clinching a 4-3 victory for the 10th-ranked Blue Devils against No. 32 Michigan in Saturday's dual match opener in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Cunha - ranked seventh in the ITA's latest poll - rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the first set to defeat No. 6 Evan King in the No. 1 singles match, 7-5, 6-1. Cunha also teamed with sophomore Fred Saba to upend the Wolverines' 22nd-ranked duo of King and Shaun Bernstein at the No. 1 doubles spot, 8-4.

The Jaú, Brazil, native completed a perfect week of play with the pair of victories at Michigan, in addition to going undefeated at last weekend's Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. Cunha posted two wins in No. 1 singles play, including a 6-2, 6-4 victory over No. 30 Jose Hernandez of North Carolina, to finish second overall in the final points standings. He also paired with Saba to claim the doubles crown at the tournament, dispatching the Tar Heels' Brennan Boyajian and Oystein Steiro, 9-7, at the No. 1 spot on the final day of play.

Cunha closed out fall tournament play with a 14-4 ledger in singles while defeating a team-best six ranked opponents. He also reached the semifinal round of the 2011 ITA National Indoor Championships in November. In doubles, Cunha notched an overall record of 10-4 and teamed with sophomore Chris Mengel to capture the doubles title at the ITA Carolina Regional.

The ACC Player of the Week honor was the ninth of Cunha's career.
