The Jaú, Brazil native has helped Duke start the spring with a 7-0 record for the program's best start since the 1954-55 season. In Saturday's road victory against the Volunteers, seventh-ranked Cunha delivered a 6-0, 7-5 win over No. 125 Mikelis Libietis at the No. 1 position for his 20th singles victory of the year. He also remained unbeaten in dual match singles play, improving to 6-0.
Cunha maintains an undefeated ledger in doubles, as he and sophomore Fred Saba moved to 4-0 on the spring at the No. 1 spot with an 8-6 win over Tennessee's 33rd-ranked tandem of Libietis and Hunter Reese.
Duke is one of 16 squads that earned a bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships Feb. 17-20 in Charlottesville, Va. The Blue Devils are set to face No. 8 UCLA in the opening round on Friday, Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m.
