Cunha, ranked third in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's singles poll, defeated No. 66 Jaime Pulgar of NC State, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 1 spot to clinch a 4-3 decision against the Wolfpack on Friday. In Sunday's match at Wake Forest, the Jaú, Brazil, native posted a 6-3, 6-4 win against Danny Kreyman as Duke (13-2, 2-0 ACC) earned a 6-1 victory over the Demon Deacons. Cunha now owns a team-best ledger of 26-5 in singles play, including a 12-1 mark from the top spot in the lineup.
He also comprises the 62nd-ranked doubles tandem in the nation along with sophomore Chris Mengel. Cunha and Mengel teamed up for a pair of wins in the No. 1 position against NC State and Wake Forest, improving to 9-4 overall and 2-0 on the spring.
The Blue Devils will host third-ranked Virginia on Friday at 3 p.m. at Ambler Tennis Stadium before welcoming No. 68 Virginia Tech to Durham on Sunday at 1 p.m.
