DURHAM, N.C. - The third-ranked Duke women's tennis team will host Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) rival and fifth-ranked North Carolina on Thursday, Apr. 12 at 3 p.m. The two perennial powers are undefeated in league play this season, and the top seed in next weekend's ACC Tournament could be at stake.

Match Notes:

LAST TIME OUT: The third-ranked Blue Devils swept a pair of home ACC contests over seventh-ranked Miami and 31st-ranked Florida State last week. Duke defeated Miami 4-0 on Friday, Apr. 6, before upending Florida State, 4-2, despite dropping the doubles point for the first time at home this season.

ACC WINS KING: In his 16th season, head coach Jamie Ashworth became the ACC's all-time wins leader among women's tennis coaches with his 352nd in Duke's 4-3 victory over eighth-ranked Virginia on March 23rd. Ashworth owns a career record of 357-82 (.813) and passed Kitty Harrison, who coached North Carolina from 1977-1998, and owned a 351-224 (.610) career mark in his 21 seasons.

IN THE POLLS: Duke has been ranked in the top-five in 24 straight ITA polls - the longest active streak in the nation. The Blue Devils have also been ranked in the top-10 for 70 straight weeks.

SINGLES DOMINANCE: As a team, Duke owns an 93-17 (.845) mark in dual singles matches, including a 40-4 (.909) record in ACC singles matches. The Blue Devils possess five players with 20 or more singles wins this season: Mary Clayton (28), Hanna Mar (24), Ester Goldfeld (22), Monica Turewicz (22) and Beatrice Capra (21).

VERSUS NORTH CAROLINA: The Blue Devils lead the Tar Heels 41-30 in the all-time series and won last year's matchup, 4-3, in Chapel Hill. North Carolina has won three of the last four meetings, but Duke has won four of the last seven.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS: North Carolina possesses four ranked singles players and two top-50 doubles teams. Zoe De Bruycker has 22 wins, while posting a 10-4 mark in the No. 1 singles spot. Lauren McHale leads the Tar Heels with 29 singles victories, including a 6-2 mark in ACC play, while Tessa Lyons owns a 21-9 record and a 12-2 mark playing in the No. 6 spot. In doubles, Shinann Featherston and McHale are 14-2 playing in the No. 1 spot.

COMING UP: Duke will face Boston College on Saturday, Apr. 14 at 12 p.m., before hosting its regular season finale against Maryland on Sunday, Apr. 15 at 12 p.m. Both matches will be played at Ambler Tennis Stadium.
