ATHENS, Ga. - The draws for the 2012 NCAA Div. I Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships were released Tuesday, with the first round of singles set to begin on Wednesday, May 23 and the first round of doubles on Thursday, May 24 at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Junior Henrique Cunha and sophomore Chris Mengel were both selected to the 64-player singles field, with Cunha earning the No. 5 overall seed in the tournament. Cunha opens singles play Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against Adrien Puget of UCLA, while Mengel will also compete Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against Fresno State's Remi Boutillier.

Cunha will be making his third appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship after earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America honors in singles each of the past two seasons. The Jaú, Brazil native was tabbed the No. 1 overall seed in singles as a rookie and advanced to the tournament semifinals, and reached the quarterfinals as a sophomore last year. This season, Cunha owns an overall record of 38-9 and a 23-8 mark against ranked opponents, including wins over the No. 2, 6, 8, 11, 14, 15 and 17 ranked players in the nation.

Mengel received the first NCAA Individual Championships selection of his career and is 31-12 overall in singles play this season. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mengel has posted 11 wins over ranked opponents and clinched the Blue Devils' NCAA Round of 16 victory over Baylor last week in Athens.

In doubles, Cunha and Mengel will face Chip Cox and Nick Jones of South Carolina in Thursday's first round. The 16th-ranked Duke duo is 17-9 this season with five victories against ranked doubles teams. Cunha was selected to the doubles field each of the past two seasons with former Blue Devil Reid Carleton, reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament in both 2011 and 2010.

All singles and doubles matches will be held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Live scoring will be available at
