DURHAM, N.C.-Former Duke University men's soccer players Joe Germanese and Ryan McDaniel recently were crowned national champions as they helped guide the Battery Park Gunners to the amateur title at the United States Adult Soccer Association Championships. The Boston area club defeated RWB Adria of Illinois 2-0.

The game featured two great goals and will be replayed Thursday on Fox Soccer Channel at 8 p.m. (ET).

Germanese was a member of the 2006 Duke squad and started 19 games. He ranked fifth on the team in goals and tied for fourth in assists. He was an All-ACC Tournament team selection and was voted to the All-ACC Academic squad.

McDaniel, a 2010 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner for the Blue Devils. He started all 21 matches in the midfield as a senior and ranked third on the team in minutes with 1,840. He tallied the game-winner in the Blue Devils NCAA Tournament first round win over Winthrop in 2009.
