DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University incoming men's lacrosse group recently was ranked third in the Inside Lacrosse 2012 Recruiting Issue. The issue features the top incoming 100 collegiate players as selected by Inside Lacrosse.
Duke's Case Matheis sits in the top spot of the incoming group, while Deemer Class is 10th. Jamie Ikeda or Conestoga, Pa., is 19th and goaltender Luke Aaron rounds out the Blue Devils contingent at No. 29. The ACC holds each of the top three spots with North Carolina and Virginia coming in at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
All four of the Blue Devils ranked by IL were Under Armour All-America selections. Matheis had 69 goals and 53 assists for Darien High School this past season to finish as the program's all-time leading scorer. Class joins the Blue Devils after putting together 22 goals and 31 assists with 37 ground balls in his senior campaign at Loyola Blakefield.
A defenseman, Ikeda led Conestoga High School to a 25-1 mark this past season and picked up 48 ground balls. A Deerfield Academy product, Aaron posted a 5.15 goals against average in 2012 with a 14-2 overall record.
The Blue Devils are coming off of a 15-5 season in which they captured their seventh ACC title and advanced to their sixth consecutive NCAA semifinal.
