DURHAM, N.C. - After 4-1 victory over No. 20 William & Mary Friday night to start the season, the second-ranked Blue Devils take to the field again on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. against Elon University (0-0-1) in the Blue Devils home opener at Koskinen Stadium.
The game will be streamed live on the Blue Devil Network with the purchase of an Inside Access subscription. Live stats and a live blog of the contest also will be available free of charge on GoDuke.com.
The Blue Devils came out strong against William & Mary, scoring four first-half goals and taking a 4-0 lead into the halftime break. William & Mary countered with a goal in the second half, but the Blue Devils were able to hold on to a commanding victory. Four different Blue Devils registered goals in the victory.
Elon is coming off a game against Cincinnati on Friday in which the Phoenix tied the Bearcats 1-1. The Phoenix return 18 players from last season, which includes all but one member of the 2011 starting lineup. Elon had its third consecutive winning season in the Southern Conference last year, ending 2011 with a 6-3-2 record in the conference and 8-8-4 overall.
The Blue Devils are 4-0 all-time against the Phoenix with every matchup thus far being played in Koskinen Stadium. The two schools previously met in 2007 in a regular season match up that saw Duke defeat Elon, 6-0.
