WINNIPEG, CAN. - Former Duke men’s tennis standout Reid Carleton won the Canada F6 Futures tournament on Sunday to capture his first professional title, defeating Ante Pavic of Croatia, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

On his way to capturing the singles title, Carleton played three close matches, including a first round win against Dennis Nevolo, 6-1, 6-7 (7), 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Carleton posted a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Daniel Garza of Mexico. The Naples, Fla., native then had to come from behind once again in his semifinal match to defeat Alexander Sarkissian, 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-0, before downing Pavic in the championship.

In his four years at Duke, Carleton was one of just three players to win more than 100 matches in both singles and doubles for his career. Carleton, along with current senior Henrique Cunha, owns the school record for most doubles wins by a duo (78). The collegiate standout was named an ITA All-American for the 2010 and 2011 seasons in singles and in 2011 for doubles. Carleton also earned All-ACC honors in 2008, 2010 and 2011. In addition, he was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2010.

The 2011 graduate had previously reached the semifinals in two singles main draw professional events, including at the USA F12 Futures and in the Chile F7 Futures. Carleton owns a 24-15 career singles record in the ATP/WTP and ITF pro circuit main draws.
