DURHAM, N.C. –  After totaling three goals and one assist during the week, Duke University junior Laura Weinberg was named to the National Team of the Week on Monday.  The 5-9 forward helped lead the seventh-ranked Blue Devils (10-3-1, 4-2-1 ACC) to victories over 15th-ranked Virginia Tech and 13th-ranked Boston College.

Weinberg, who is out of Boca Raton, Fla., collected two goals on Thursday in a 3-2 overtime victory over the Hokies.  Weinberg netted the game-winning goal 6:42 into the first overtime, which was her third game-winner in ACC play and the fifth overall this season.

On Sunday versus Boston College, Weinberg tallied her 14th goal of the season in the second half to put the Blue Devils ahead 2-1.  Duke went on to down the Eagles, 4-2, and Weinberg assisted on the final goal of the match by Kim DeCesare to seal the Blue Devil victory.

Weinberg has registered goals in eight out of the last 10 matches and leads the ACC with 14.  Her 14 goals ranks tied for fifth on Duke’s single-season list, while her 33 points is tied for fifth as well. In the career charts at Duke, Weinberg ranks seventh in points (75) and fifth in goals (32).

The Blue Devils will next travel down the road to play at N.C. State on Thursday, Oct. 11 in Raleigh, N.C., at 7:00 p.m., on ESPN3 before closing the regular season with three straight road contests beginning on Sunday, Oct. 14 against Wake Forest.
