COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Blue Devil field hockey alum Stefanie Fee has been selected to be a member of the U.S. Women's National Field Hockey Team slated to travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the International Hockey Federation's (IHF) World League Round 2 tournament, March 4-10.  She is one of 18 women selected to the squad which includes nine Olympians.

"I have been working as hard as I possibly can for this tour and it is very rewarding to see all of the hard work pay off through this selection," Fee said. "I feel so blessed that I have another opportunity to represent America on the international stage."

World League Round 2 is the second step in a country's journey to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. The top two teams who emerge from the round-robin style tournament will automatically advance to World League Round 3, which will be played in June 2013, and will become one step closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

Fee, a native of Virginia Beach, Va., started every game in defense for four consecutive seasons for the Blue Devils, garnering Longstreth/NFHCA All-America, All-South Region first team, All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament honors. During her senior campaign, Fee anchored a defensive unit which ranked second in the ACC and eighth nationally in goals against average (1.2).

As the 10th-ranked team in the world, the U.S. National team is the highest ranked team competing in the six team round robin tournament. In addition to the United States, No. 18 Chile, No. 19 Scotland, No. 27 Trinidad & Tobago, No. 50 Uruguay and No. 55 Brazil will compete to finish in one of the top two spots.

The United States are slated to take on Brazil in the opening match of the tournament March 4th at 9 a.m. For more information on World League Round 2, including complete schedules, results, news and more visit www.usafieldhockey.com.
