DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke women's lacrosse team returns to action Friday against Northwestern in Evanston, Ill.  Recently, sat down with senior Caroline Keating to learn more about the Gladwyne, Pa., native. What is the most misunderstood thing about the sport of lacrosse?
Caroline Keating: How complicated the rules are. I think it’s a lot easier than people think. Tell me about when you first start playing lacrosse?
CK: My first practice, I got hit in the face with somebody’s shot and I fractured my face so I was terrified of the sport. My older brothers played here so they kind of made me keep going. They got me a new stick for Christmas that year but I was still terrified of it. I was the loser running around with safety goggles but then everybody started wearing them. So my experience was a little different than most [laughs]. What has been your favorite part about being a Duke student-athlete?
CK: Having the K Center and the availability of the tutors. What has been your favorite class at Duke?
My environmental policy class with Lori Bennear. She was awesome. What is your favorite spot on campus?
CK: The Loop. Are there any words of wisdom you’d like to pass along to freshmen and future Blue Devils?
CK: Spend as much time as you can with your friends because they’re people you’re going to have for the rest of your life. Don’t let that go. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?  What do you want to be now?
CK: When I was younger, I wanted to work with the EPA, but that’s just not in the cards anymore. I’m interviewing with different fashion companies now. If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
Amanda Jones, who graduated last year. She’s great. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
CK: I would definitely travel since we don’t get to go abroad. And then I would donate the rest to a hospital because I’ve spent a lot of my four years in Duke’s hospital. What is your favorite midnight snack?
CK: A Cook-Out milkshake. The Reese’s one. If you weren’t playing lacrosse, what other sport would you play?
Tennis. I love it and I love watching my roommate [Mary Clayton] play. Do you have any hidden talents?
CK: I can do ‘the worm’ really well. What is your favorite restaurant in Durham?
CK: Sushi Love. What is one chore you absolutely hate doing?
CK: Laundry. What is one possession you can’t live without?
CK: My shoes.
