DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 10 Duke men’s tennis team will seek its fourth consecutive 20-win season this weekend, as the Blue Devils host Boston College and No. 38 N.C. State at Ambler Tennis Stadium to conclude their 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season schedule. Duke will play host to Boston College Friday, April 19 at 3 p.m., before hosting the Wolfpack Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m.

“We are looking forward to finishing the regular season strong this weekend,” said head coach Ramsey Smith. “Our team has done a great job all season taking care of our home courts, and we will try to continue that trend this weekend.”

The Blue Devils are coming off a 7-0 victory over then-No. 53 Miami Sunday at Ambler Tennis Stadium. Duke was able to sweep the Hurricanes in doubles, as senior Henrique Cunha and sophomore Raphael Hemmeler picked up their 30th win of the season, becoming one of four doubles teams in program history to reach the 30-win plateau. In singles, the Blue Devils dominated by winning all six matches in straight sets, led by Jason Tahir’s, 6-0, 6-1, win over Victor Mauz.

Sunday’s match against N.C. State will mark senior day for Cunha, the squad’s lone senior this season. Cunha will be honored after the completion of the doubles point. A native of Jaú, Brazil, Cunha owns a perfect 15-0 record for the dual season and remains undefeated in singles and doubles in the ACC in his final spring campaign.

“Obviously, Sunday will be particularly special with Cunha’s senior day,” Smith said. “Henrique has given so much to this program during his four years, and he has represented Duke Tennis incredibly well in all areas. It will be nice to honor him on Sunday.”

Boston College comes into Friday’s match with a 5-13 overall record and a 0-8 tally in ACC competition. The Eagles are led in wins by Matt Wagner who sports an 8-10 record this season. Duke and Boston College will meet for the 10th time in program history, as the Blue Devils own a 9-0 all-time mark in the series and posted a sweep of the Eagles in eight of the nine previous match-ups. Last season, the Blue Devils downed the Eagles, 7-0, in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

N.C. State comes into the final weekend of the regular season with a 13-8 overall record for the season and a 6-3 mark in conference play to rank fourth in the conference. Sean Weber and Dave Thompson lead the Wolfpack in the doubles rankings, as the tandem is listed No. 12 in the most recent ITA poll. Sunday will mark the 100th all-time meeting between the Blue Devils and N.C. State, with Duke owning the lead in the series, 97-2. In his five seasons as head coach, Smith is an undefeated 6-0 against the Wolfpack. The two squads last met in the quarterfinals of the 2012 ACC Tournament with Duke winning the match, 4-0.
