The Duke wrestling program welcomes in a collection of 10 freshman wrestlers for the 2013-14 campaign. GoDuke.com will profile each wrestler heading into the season and let the fans out there know a little more about each one. GoDuke presents Alex Tanzman.

Get to know Alex:

GoDuke.com: When did you start wrestling and what is your first wrestling memory?
Alex Tanzman: “I first started wrestling I’d say in second grade. My first memory would probably be that I won the kids’ state championship when I was in third grade.”

GD: Do you have any superstitions or rituals before matches?
AT: Nope

GD: New York Giants or New York Jets?
AT: Giants all the way.

GD: Favorite New York Giants Player?
AT: Victor Cruz – but the Giants aren’t looking too hot right now.

GD: Yankees or Mets?
AT: I’m not too big into baseball, but I’d have to say Yankees

GD: What has been your favorite class so far?
AT: I like my psychology class. It’s just psych 101 and it’s interesting.

GD: What is the last movie you saw?
AT: This is the End – it was a funny movie.

GD: Beach or mountains?
AT: Beach, I live on the beach. My local beach, Westhampton, I go to every day.

GD: Favorite home cooked meal?
AT: Probably my mom’s Phillipino dish called chicken adobo. It’s really good.

GD: Chocolate or vanilla?
AT: Chocolate

GD: Do you have any special talents?
AT: I can wakeboard

GD: What sport other than wrestling would you have like to have played?
AT: Competitively, I don’t know if I could play many other sports because of my size, but I probably would have snowboarded or wakeboarded. I like lacrosse too.
